The Influence of Shoe and Cleat Type on Lower Extremity Muscle Activation in Youth Baseball Pitchers

چکیده
Background: Baseball pitching is a dynamic movement where the lower extremities generate and sequentially transfer energy to upper maximize ball velocity. The need for body muscular strength produce adequate push-off landing forces has been documented; however, influence footwear surface inclination on muscle activation remains unknown. Objectives: Determine how in molded cleats turf shoes from mound flat ground affects stride-leg youth baseball pitchers while determining percent during each phase. Methods: Cross – sectional study analyzing mean activity of vastus medialis, semitendinosus, tibialis anterior, medial gastrocnemius 11 when fastballs. Results: Footwear did not significantly alter medialis or semitendinosus (P 0.05). shoe x interaction elicited 0.05) greater anterior stride foot contact maximum glenohumeral internal rotation. Molded produced levels (0.374 ± 0.176 mV) release (0.469 0.150 mV). Conclusion: Findings suggest alters level ankle stabilizing musculature. Youth coaches should be cognizant what worn surface. Maximal can ensure leg adequately stabilized absorb momentum generated by trail leg.

Hip and upper extremity kinematics in youth baseball pitchers.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between dynamic hip rotational range of motion and upper extremity kinematics during baseball pitching. Thirty-one youth baseball pitchers (10.87 ± 0.92 years; 150.03 ± 5.48 cm; 44.83 ± 8.04 kg) participated. A strong correlation was found between stance hip rotation and scapular upward rotation at maximum shoulder external rotation (r =...
متن کاملThe effect of pitching biomechanics on the upper extremity in youth and adolescent baseball pitchers.
BACKGROUND Increased pitch counts have been linked to increased complaints of shoulder and elbow pain in youth baseball pitchers. Improper pitching mechanics have not been shown to adversely affect the upper extremity in youth pitchers. HYPOTHESIS The correct performance of 5 biomechanical pitching parameters correlates with lower humeral internal rotation torque and elbow valgus load, as wel...
متن کاملThe Effect of Shoe Type and Load Carrying on Electromyographic Activity of Lower Extremity Muscles during Stair Ascent and Descent
Objective Stair ascent and descent is an essential movement task in daily life in which individuals are subjected to repetitive impact forces. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the intensity of Electromyographic (EMG) activity in lower extremity muscles of healthy young men during stair ascent and descent task wearing different type of shoes and carrying loads. Methods Nine men with a ...

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of different shoe types on lower extremity muscle activity in healthy young women by using electromyography. [Subjects and Methods] Fifteen healthy young women in their 20s were included in this single-group repeated measures study. The subjects were divided into three groups: Converse sneakers, rain boots, and combat boots. The sub...

CONTEXT Although baseball is a relatively safe sport, numerous reports suggest a rapid rise in elbow injury rate among youth baseball pitchers. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION PUBMED WAS SEARCHED FOR EPIDEMIOLOGIC, BIOMECHANICAL, AND CLINICAL STUDIES OF ELBOW INJURIES IN BASEBALL (KEYWORDS: "youth OR adolescent" AND baseball AND pitching AND "ulnar collateral ligament OR elbow"; published January 2000 -...
