The impacts of Hevea brasiliensis (rubber tree) plantation on soil nutrients in Southern Nigeria

Abstract. Ndakara OE, Ohwo O. 2022. The impacts of Hevea brasiliensis (rubber tree) plantation on soil nutrients in Southern Nigeria. Nusantara Bioscience 14: 234-239. This study investigated how (Willd. ex A.Juss.) Müll.Arg. impact the soils within humid rainforest ecosystem used quasi-experimental and stratified random sampling techniques to select units. Samples under H. (the control) were collected using an auger, their laboratory analyses for total organic matter (TOM), nitrogen (N), available phosphorus (P), exchangeable potassium (K), pH carried out standard methods. Data generated statistically analyzed mean, deviation, error t-test. Findings showed that have higher nutrient properties than plantations brasiliensis. Soil values lower While TOM, N, K differed significantly between at a 5% confidence level, insignificant level. Tree species' capability improve nutrition reflects its positive ecosystem. Since are rainforest, efficient application manure is required status sustainable functioning management degraded environment.
