The Impact of Automated Vehicles on Traffic Flow and Road Capacity on Urban Road Networks

چکیده
Automated vehicles (AVs) are believed to have great potential improve the traffic capacity and efficiency of current transport systems. Despite positive findings impact AVs on flow road increase for highways, few studies been performed regarding urban roads. Moreover, considering volume with a mixture human-driven (HDVs) rarely conducted. Therefore, this study investigated gradual increments AV penetration The adopted microsimulation approach using VISSIM Wiedmann 74 model car-following behavior. Parameters were set at SAE level 4 automation. A real network was chosen simulation having 13 intersections in total distance 4.5 km. had various numbers lanes from single lane five one direction. consists main arterial parallel serving nearby commercial residential blocks. In total, 36 scenarios by combination penetrations an volumes. found that, as increased, also improved, reduction average delay time up 31%. Also, expected, links three or four more significant delay. terms increase, when saturated 100%, could accommodate 40% traffic.

Modeling and Analysis of Vehicles Flow on the Road
Abstract: This study is carried out to describe the behaviour of vehicles flow on the road, in the presence of blocking effects. A non-linear three dimensional system of ordinary differential equations is used to describe vehicles flow on the road. The study classify total vehicles population on the road into three compartments as Free – Slow – Released vehicles. The formulated model is well-po...
متن کاملSimulating the Effects of Type and Spacing of Traffic Calming Measures on Urban Road Capacity
One of the major reasons for accidents is speed. Top of Form Inappropriate speed has been identified as the most important causal factor for serious traffic accidents. Traffic calming measures (TCMs) are engineering measures that are widely implemented to improve road safety by considerably reducing vehicle speed. TCMs have been widely used in urban areas to reduce vehicle flow rat...
متن کاملInfluence of Reckless Jaywalking on Urban Road Traffic Capacity
A modified cellular automaton (CA) model based on the NaSch model is proposed to simulate the typical reckless jaywalking which can cause serious traffic jam and even traffic accident. Incorporating traffic psychology, the walking characteristics such as customary activity, randomness, conformity and tendency are analyzed. Two parameters reflecting the influence degree of human factor is introd...
متن کاملTraffic Flow on Road Junctions
The paper deals with a mathematical model for fluid dynamic flows on road networks which is based on conservation laws. This nonlinear framework is based on the conservation of cars. We focus on traffic circle, which is a finite number of roads that meet at some junctions. The traffic circle with junctions having either one incoming and two outgoing or two incoming and one outgoing roads. We de...
متن کاملDetailed traffic animation for urban road networks
We present a new agent-based system for detailed traffic animation on urban arterial networks with diverse junctions like signalized crossing, merging and weaving areas. To control the motion of traffic for visualization and animation purposes, we utilize the popular follow-the-leader method to simulate various vehicle types and intelligent driving styles. We also introduce a continuous lane-ch...
