The Growth Effect of External Debt in Nigeria: Does Structural Break Matters?

چکیده
The volatility in crude oil price the global market has continuously heightened fiscal deficits Nigeria, a net exporter of oil. Consequently, successive governments have often resorted to external borrowing augment available revenue. This implications for economic growth. Therefore, this study evaluated growth effect debt and accounted structural break debt-growth nexus Nigeria. Annual data spanning 1981-2020 were sourced from databases analysed using dynamic ordinary least square (DOLS) estimator. result showed that growth-inhibiting effects on Nigerian economy matter analysis results imply Nigeria needs lower its due high cost servicing accompany such while also improving revenue-generating ventures country.
