The factorization method and Capon’s method for random source identification in experimental aeroacoustics

Abstract Experimental aeroacoustics is concerned with the estimation of acoustic source power distributions, which are for instance caused by fluid structure interactions on scaled aircraft models inside a wind tunnel, from microphone array measurements associated sound pressure fluctuations. In frequency domain aeroacoustic propagation can be modeled as random problem convected Helmholtz equation. This article inverse to recover support an uncorrelated correlations observed signals. We show that variant factorization method scattering theory used this purpose. also discuss surprising relation between and commonly beamforming algorithm experimental aeroacoustics, known Capon’s or minimum variance method. Numerical examples illustrate our theoretical findings.
