The Ever-Worsening Antimicrobial Resistance in Enterobacterales; A wakeup call

نویسندگان

چکیده

Objective: To determine the comprehensive antibiotic susceptibility profile of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales among clinical samples received at Armed Forces Institute Pathology (AFIP), Rawalpindi.
 Study Design: Cross-sectional study.
Place and Duration Study: Department Microbiology, Rawalpindi Pakistan, from Apr to Sep 2020
Methodology: Over six months, 150 were isolated ofPathology, Pakistan. The antimicrobial testing was performed using Kirby-Bauer Disk-Diffusion technique, their interpreted according CLSI 2020 EUCAST guidelines.
Results: Out isolates resistant Carbapenems, 99(66%) identified as Klebsiella Pneumoniae, followed by Escherichia Coli 38(25.7%), Proteus Mirabilis 7(4.6%), Enterobacter Cloacae, Serratia Marcescens, Citrobacter Freundii, Providencia retgerii 1(0.6%) each. highly following categories antibiotics tested. For Penicillins/Cephalosporins combinations, resistance range between 94 100%, it >79% for Aminoglycosides, >97% Fluoroquinolones >48% Tetracyclines. Isolates showed highest Colistin, 94(92%) out 102 then Tigecycline 81(81%) 100, Fosfomycin 60(78.9%) 76, Minocycline 41(52%) 79 Doxycycline 33(50%) 66.
Conclusion: Extensively drug-resistant ‘Superbugs’ with ever-worsening threaten human race back pre-antibiotic era. This real menace cautions against lack antimicrobials treating lethal hazardous infections caused such difficult-to-treat bacteria in times come.

Antimicrobial Resistance: A Call to Action!

Infectious diseases account for about one-quarter of all deaths worldwide. Since the introduction of penicillin in the 1940s, antibiotics have occupied a central place in the treatment of bacterial infections and make possible many of the procedures of modern medicine such as cancer chemotherapy, organ transplantation and the care of premature babies. Although there have been major advances in ...

A Wakeup Call for Internet Monitoring Systems: The Case for Distributed Triggers

There have been a number of recent proposals for distributed monitoring infrastructures. We argue that a vital missing component from these proposals is a distributed triggering mechanism, by which nodes in the system can proactively work together to maintain invariants and constraints over the system-wide behavior. Without such a triggering component, existing proposals are doomed to poor perf...
