The Endogenous Metabolic Response of Tribolium castaneum under a High Concentration of CO2

High carbon dioxide concentrations can effectively control most storage pests. To estimate the toxicity effect of high CO2, four different CO2 (25% 50% 75% and 95% CO2) were used to treat Tribolium castaneum, biochemical (carbohydrate content gene expression level) physiological (mortality, pupation, eclosion rate, weight) features insects submitted treatments with evaluated. The T. castaneum mortality rate was in approximately 2 days when exposed a treatment CO2. When concentration exceeded 75%, pupation seriously declined. Higher than 25% resulted lower weight shrunken body size castaneum. It further found that all influenced levels three carbohydrate contents In addition, according detection trehalose metabolism pathway-related genes, mainly responds stress factors via TPS, TRE1-2, TRE1-3. Our results enrich evaluation on grain pests, providing basis for improving method regulating insect
