The emotional element of urban densification

چکیده
In this paper, we will delve into a somewhat unexplored element of urban densification – namely, people’s emotional responses to physically and socially densified neighbourhoods. Undoubtedly, there is vast amount scholarship on the advantages dense compact environments over sprawl. While scholars tend highlight environmental benefits, few studies scrutinise how people living in areas marked for intense development respond emotionally strategies. Interviews with residents from neighbourhoods Oslo demonstrate that can evoke emotions like insecurity, fear, anger sadness lost homes or altered place identity. This gap calls stronger academic political engagement feelings about their surroundings, also when discussing social dimension sustainability.

متن کاملExpansion and Densification of Cities: Linking Urban Form to Urban Ecology
Despite much research on the ecological impacts of urbanization, we still do not know what development patterns are most effective in supporting ecological function. In particular, it is as yet unclear if compact urban forms are ecologically more favourable than dispersed forms. Using historical data from the city of Geneva in Switzerland, we present results on its growth from 1841 to 2005, or ...

Modeling of Densification of Biomass Grinds using Discrete Element Method by PFC
Biomass feedstocks are densified to facilitate easy handling, transportation and storage. Densification is a process of transforming loose biomass into highly densified form by the application of mechanical pressure. The mechanism involved in the process of densification is difficult to understand from existing information. A comprehensive understanding of the densification process for biomass ...
