The electrochemistry of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, disodium phosphate, ammonium chloride on Mg‐based and polycrystalline Pt electrodes

Abstract In this study, the electrochemical mechanisms of struvite formation were investigated by studying behavior Mg‐based and (poly)crystalline‐Pt electrodes in presence ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, disodium chloride solutions. It was found that a precipitate formed on electrodes, while poly‐Pt electrode showed typical voltammetric features aqueous electrolytes. The structure, morphology, composition electrochemically obtained precipitates collected from surface analyzed scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). results morphology impacted electrolytes purity magnesium. Moreover, Tafel kinetics corrosion rates ( v corr ) directly correlated with electrolyte material compositions, whereby both general increase when employed anions. slopes β for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) significant difference between forward reverse potential scans various used, finding which mainly attributed to adsorption hydroxide species, alkali cations, phosphate anions these species blocked ORR active sites.
