The efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in treating patients with chronic daily headache

چکیده

Abstract Background Headache is the most common pain disorder , affecting around 66% of global population. This study aimed to investigate efficacy high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in treating patients with primary chronic daily headaches (chronic tension-type headache and migraine). Methods Twenty-seven participated study, divided into 2 groups: a group (16 patients) control (11 patients). Treatment consisted 12 (5 Hz) real rTMS sessions, delivered over left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), whereas sham was used for group. Results Patients group, after stimulation, showed high statistically significant reduction measured parameters compared ( P value < 0.001), percentage improvement 94.5%. No parameters, observed > 0.05) 7.9%. Conclusion High-frequency effective reducing tension migraine s. finding runs approval suggested role DLPFC control. might open opinions new treatment strategies prevention.

Controversy: Does repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation/ transcranial direct current stimulation show efficacy in treating tinnitus patients?

BACKGROUND Tinnitus affects 10% of the population, its pathophysiology remains incompletely understood, and treatment is elusive. Functional imaging has demonstrated a relationship between the intensity of tinnitus and the degree of reorganization in the auditory cortex. Experimental studies have further shown that tinnitus is associated with synchronized hyperactivity in the auditory cortex. T...

Effects of High-Frequency Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation on Motor Functions in Patients with Subcortical Stroke

Background: Motor function impairment occurs in approximately two-thirds of patients with subcortical stroke. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a noninvasive technique for modulating cortical excitability. Objectives: The present study was designed for assessing the efficacy of high-frequency rTMS (5 Hz) on ipsilesional primary motor cortex in patients with subcortical stro...

Efficacy of synchronous verbal training during repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in patients with chronic aphasia.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Although multiple studies have suggested that repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) may facilitate recovery after stroke, the efficacy of synchronous speech therapy integrated with an rTMS protocol has yet to be determined. We investigated language responses to this strategy and determined the longevity of the resulting therapeutic outcomes. METHODS Forty-...
