چکیده
Objective: One of the most common side effects spinal anesthesia (SA) is hypotension. The aim study was to evaluate efficacay inferior vena cava (IVC) diameter measurements, perfusion index (PI) and pleth variability (PVI) values in determining risk developing hypotension after SA. Materials Methods: This conducted on 81 patients who underwent transurethral prostatectomy. Before administration SA, PI PVI values, IVC diameters (IVCmin: during inspiration IVCmax: expiration) collapsibility (IVCCI) non-invasive blood pressure were recorded. Patients with a baseline systolic arterial reduction rate ≥25% determined as group measurements measured immediately SA then 5 min, at end operation. heart rate, mean pressure, recorded regular intervals. Results: Hypotension occured 32 (39.5%). In hypotensive group, IVCmax IVCmin observed lower IVCCI higher. optimal threshold value ≤0.99 >%44.5 for predicting Conclusion: While effective not. Accuracy of pleth variability index compared with inferior vena cava diameter to predict fluid responsiveness in mechanically ventilated patients
In the intensive care unit (ICU), stable hemodynamics are very important. Hemodynamic intervention is often effective against multiple organ failure, such as in tissue hypoxia and shock. The administration of intravenous fluids is the first step in regulating tissue perfusion. The main objective of this study is to compare the performance between 2 methods namely pleth variability index (PVI) an...
متن کاملInferior vena cava index in edematous patients.
INTRODUCTION To find a relation between extracellular over fluid and inferior vena cava index as a noninvasive, cost effective and accessible method. METHODS In a cross sectional study 54 cases (no edema 30, mild and moderate 13 and significant edema 11 cases) entered to study. Inferior vena cava index (IVCi) measured by difference of inspiration to expiration divided to maximum size multiply...
متن کاملThe efficacy of inferior vena cava diameters and the jugular vein in assessing fluid resuscitation
Objective: Fluid resuscitation is necessary in almost all critical patients. The central venous pressure (CVP) is a well-established method of assessing resuscitation. Recently, there have been attempts to investigate less invasive methods like the diameters of inferior vena cava (IVC) or the jugular vein. We aimed to investigate this method in our research. Methods: Seventy eight critical...
متن کاملChanges in pleth variability index and detection of hypotension during spinal anaesthesia for caesarean section.
Background: Hypotension occurs commonly during caesarean section under spinal anaesthesia. As the onset may be rapid, it may fail to be detected by non-invasive blood pressure (BP) measurement in a timely fashion. Pulse oximeters can continuously and non-invasively measure tissue perfusion (perfusion index (PI)) and its variation with the respiratory cycle (pleth variability index (PVI)). As wi...
متن کاملAccuracy of the pleth variability index to predict fluid responsiveness depends on the perfusion index.
BACKGROUND Respiratory variations in plethysmographic waveform amplitudes derived from pulse oximetry are believed to predict fluid responsiveness. The non-invasive pleth variability index (PVI) is a variable based on the calculation of changes in the perfusion index (PI). The aim of the following study was to examine whether the predictive power of PVI depends on different values of PI. METH...
