The Effects of Promoter Cs Loading on the Hydrogen Production from Ammonia Decomposition Using Ru/C Catalyst in a Fixed-Bed Reactor

The hydrogen production from ammonia decomposition on commercial 5 wt.% Ru/C (C: activated carbon) catalyst with different cesium (Cs) loadings at lower temperatures of 325–400 °C in the fixed-bed reactor was experimentally investigated. Based parameters used this work, results showed that conversion 350 is increased increasing Cs/Ru molar ratio, and it reaches its maximum value ratio 4.5. After that, rapidly decreased a further increase even smaller than pure case 6. Cs promotion ratios may be due to so-called “hot ring promotion”. possible mechanisms for effects higher are discussed. At optimum loading, all conversions 400 near 100% GHSV (gas hourly space velocity) 48,257 241,287 mL/(h·gcat).
