The effects of acute exercise on bone turnover markers in middle-aged and older adults: A systematic review

چکیده
Bone turnover is the cellular machinery responsible for bone integrity and strength and, in clinical setting, it assessed using markers (BTMs). Acute exercise can induce mechanical stress on which needed remodelling, but to date, there are conflicting results regards effects of varying stimuli BTMs. This systematic review examines acute aerobic, resistance impact exercises BTMs middle older-aged adults whether responses determined by mode, intensity, age sex. We searched PubMed, SCOPUS, Web Science EMBASE up 22nd April 2020. Eligibility criteria included randomised controlled trials (RCTs) single-arm studies that middle-aged (50 65 years) older (>65 a single-bout, acute-exercise (aerobic, resistance, impact) intervention with measurement PROSPERO registration number CRD42020145359. Thirteen were included; 8 (n = 275, 212 women/63 men, mean 57.9 ± 1.5 5 93, 50 women/43 68.2 2.2 years). Eleven aerobic (AE, 7 middle-aged/4 adults), two (RE, both middle-aged). AE significantly increased C-terminal telopeptide (CTX), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) bone-ALP adults. also total osteocalcin (tOC) men Procollagen I Carboxyterminal Propeptide Cross-Linked Telopeptide Type Collagen women. RE alone decreased ALP In adults, had no effect tOC or BALP, CTX. Impact (jumping) 1 N an effective tool modify BTMs, however, response appears be modality-, intensity-, age- sex-specific. There further need higher quality larger RCTs this area.

Effects of water-based exercise on bone health of middle-aged and older adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis
BACKGROUND Age-related bone loss is a major health concern. Only exercises associated with high-impact and mechanical loading have been linked to a positive effect on bone turnover; however, these types of exercises may not always be appropriate for middle-aged and older adults due to physical decline or chronic disorders such as osteoarthritis. Water-based exercise (WBE) has been shown to affe...
