The effect of direct vertebral rotation on the spine parameters (coronal and sagittal) in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis

چکیده
BACKGROUND: Idiopathic scoliosis is accompanied by postural alterations, instability of gait, and functional disabilities. The objective was to verify radiographic parameters (coronal sagittal) adolescents with idiopathic (AIS) pre- post-surgery direct vertebral rotation (DVR), associated type 1 osteotomies in all segments (except the most proximal) 2 periapical vertebrae curves. METHODS: A prospective study design employed which 41 AIS were evaluated compared post-surgery. Scoliosis confirmed a spine X-ray exam (Cobb angle). Eight measured: Cobb angles (thoracic proximal distal), segmental kyphosis, total lumbar lordosis, pelvic incidence, sacral slope, tilt. RESULTS: angle averaged 51.3?± 14.9?. Post-surgery, there significant reductions for following measurement parameters: thoracic (p= 0.003); distal 0.001); kyphosis (T5-T12, p= 0.012); (T1-T12, 0.002). These showed effectiveness surgical correction reduce improve kyphosis. values obtained tilt not significantly different CONCLUSION: technique DVR proved be effective coronal sagittal directed at order favor rehabilitation process.

Assessment of Coronal Radiographic Parameters of the Spine in the Treatment of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis
Background: To determine the most important preoperative factors that affect postoperative coronal parameters of scoliotic curves. Methods: All Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) patients included in the study were classified according to Lenke and King Classification. The fusion levels were selected according to the rigidity of the existing curves (correction less than 50%), tilt...

STUDY DESIGN Retrospective study. PURPOSE To determine the effect and direction of direct vertebral rotation (DVR) in the lowest instrumented vertebra (LIV) on the uninstrumented lumbar curve depending on the lumbar modifier used for the correction of thoracic adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. متن کاملCotrel-Dubousset instrumentation and vertebral rotation in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
We have studied 34 consecutive patients receiving Cotrel- Dubousset instrumentation for a single and flexible thoracic scoliotic curve, evaluating the rib hump deformity from a single CT scan through the apical vertebra of the curve. Using two measures of rotation we found a mean improvement of 25% in the rotation of the vertebra after operation. Any, usually minor, deterioration occurred in th...
