چکیده

Indonesia as an agricultural country, produces products and their waste. To increase the utilization of waste, hence Palm Oil Mill Boiler Ash processed into adsorbent. This research aimed to determine effect contact time on quality adsorption process crude palm oil using adsorbent from Ash. The results showed that optimum at 60 minutes resulted in largest reduction free fatty acids by 2.99% with a decrease percentage 21.43%. minimum water content was 0.26% 18.75%. Meanwhile, impurities obtained are around 0.299% - 0.312%. boiler ash adsorbent, originating Mill, which activated H3PO4, is effective reducing oil.

Preparation and Characterization of Nano- Structured Materials from Oil Palm Ash: a Bio- Agricultural Waste from Oil Palm Mill

Oil palm ash (OPA), a bio-agricultural waste from oil palm mills, was subjected to high-energy ball milling for 30 h and was converted into a nano-structured material. The nano-structured OPA was characterized for its particle size and crystallinity index by using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis. The crystallite size obtained from TEM and XRD was foun...

Electrocoagulation of Palm Oil Mill Effluent

Electrocoagulation (EC) is an electrochemical technique which has been employed in the treatment of various kinds of wastewater. In this work the potential use of EC for the treatment of palm oil mill effluent (POME) was investigated. In a laboratory scale, POME from a factory site in Chumporn Province (Thailand) was subjected to EC using aluminum as electrodes and sodium chloride as supporting...

Boiler-Feed and Process Water Reclamation from Biotreated Palm Oil Mill Effluent (BPOME): A Developmental Review

Population growth, urbanization, and industrialization contribute to water shortages by perpetually pushing up demand. Interestingly, these same factors increase water pollution, lead to higher costs in potable water treatment, and pose adverse health effects. It has been projected that by 2020, more than half the total population of Asia, Africa, and Latin America will be living in cities, and...

Comparative alteration in atherogenic indices and hypocholesteremic effect of palm oil and palm oil mill effluent in normal albino rats

The comparative hypocholesteremic effect of feeding palm oil and palm oil mill effluent (POME) was investigated in male albino rats. Diets were prepared and designed to contain 50% of energy as carbohydrate, 35% as fat, and 15% as protein. Groups of six rats were each fed one of these diets, while a group was fed pelletized mouse chow which served as the control. Feeding on palm oil and POME le...

Binary Effect of Fly Ash and Palm Oil Fuel Ash on Heat of Hydration Aerated Concrete

The binary effect of pulverized fuel ash (PFA) and palm oil fuel ash (POFA) on heat of hydration of aerated concrete was studied. Three aerated concrete mixes were prepared, namely, concrete containing 100% ordinary Portland cement (control sample or Type I), binary concrete made from 50% POFA (Type II), and ternary concrete containing 30% POFA and 20% PFA (Type III). It is found that the tempe...
