چکیده
Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects 6-week consumption anthocyanin-containing supplement on eye function. Methods: This a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, parallel-group comparison involving 32 healthy Japanese adults with fatigue after using visual display terminals (VDTs). Subjects were randomly allocated into either active group (bilberry-derived anthocyanin 43.2 mg per capsule) or placebo random number generator. consumed one capsule once day for 6 weeks. primary outcome measured change in percentage pupillary response pre- and post-VDT use, whereas secondary outcomes tear film break-up time, Schirmer's value, muscle hardness, subjective symptoms. Experimental data analyzed Student's t-test, two-way analysis covariance, Mann–Whitney U-test.Results: Each included 15 subjects efficacy analysis. showed significant improvement logarithmic conversion values (active group: 0.2 ± 0.4, 0.0 0.3; P = 0.043) response/near point 0.1 −0.1 0.049) use at weeks compared subgroup eye. No adverse events reported. Conclusions: containing anthocyanins extracted from bilberry inhibited decrease accommodative function caused by oxidative stress due VDT use.Trial registration: UMIN-CTR: UMIN000037039.Foundation: BGG Japan Co., Ltd.
