Nonparametric Regression Under Dependent Errors With Infinite Variance
We consider local least absolute deviation (LLAD) estimation for trend functions of time series with heavy tails which are characterised via a symmetric stable law distribution. The setting includes both causal stable ARMA model and fractional stable ARIMA model as special cases. The asymptotic limit of the estimator is established under the assumption that the process has either short or long ...
متن کاملAn improved standardized time series Durbin-Watson variance estimator for steady-state simulation
We discuss an improved jackknifed Durbin–Watson estimator for the variance parameter from a steady-state simulation. The estimator is based on a combination of standardized time series area and Cramér–von Mises estimators. Various examples demonstrate its efficiency in terms of bias and variance compared to other estimators.
متن کاملThe Variance Ratio Test with Stable Paretian Errors
In this paper we examine the distribution of the variance ratio statistic when the errors are distributed with thick tails as described by the family of stable Paretian distributions. The asymptotic distribution of the OVR statistic, which depends on the characteristic exponent, can be estimated using simulation. It is found that the convergence of the distribution of the OVR statistic to its a...
متن کاملWeighted Quantile Regression for AR model with Infinite Variance Errors.
Autoregressive (AR) models with finite variance errors have been well studied. This paper is concerned with AR models with heavy-tailed errors, which is useful in various scientific research areas. Statistical estimation for AR models with infinite variance errors is very different from those for AR models with finite variance errors. In this paper, we consider a weighted quantile regression fo...
متن کاملThe shape of large Galton-Watson trees with possibly infinite variance
Let T be a critical or subcritical Galton-Watson family tree with possibly infinite variance. We are interested in the shape of T conditioned to have a large total number of vertices. For this purpose we study random trees whose conditional distribution given their size is the same as the respective conditional distribution of T. These random family trees have a simple probabilistic structure i...
