The Drosophila funebris Species Group in North America (Diptera: Drosophilidae)

چکیده
Although the global human commensal Drosophila funebris (Fabricius) is well known and type species of genus Fallén, four native North American group have been poorly defined morphologically. D. macrospina limpiensis Patterson Wheeler newly recognized as a distinct from macrospina, with diagnostic morphological characters provided. The subspecies ohioensis Stalker synonymized under macrospina. Species to Palearctic Nearctic are morphologically distinct, each probably monophyletic group. Detailed descriptions redescriptions provided for both sexes Spencer, Wheeler, subfunebris trispina latter two being very rare southern California. Neotypes designated subfunebris. A key five

Evaluation of monitoring traps for Drosophila suzukii (Diptera: Drosophilidae) in North America.
Drosophila suzukii Matsumura (Diptera: Drosophilidae), a recent invasive pest of small and stone fruits, has been detected in more than half of the U.S. states, and in Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Upon discovery, several different trap designs were recommended for monitoring. This study compared the trap designs across seven states/provinces in North America and nine crop types. Between May and ...

Drosophila speciosa sp. nov. from: Belém, Pará, Brazil, is described and morphologically compared to a closely related species, D. aguape Val & Marques, 1996. Adult specimens of D. speciosa sp. nov. were collected while visiting T. speciosum Willd. ex Spreng. flowers in EMBRAPA’s Theobroma Linnaeus germoplasm collections (113 individuals) in Belém and in Caxiuanã Scientific Station, in Melgaço,...
متن کاملPhylogeny of the Drosophila immigrans species group (Diptera: Drosophilidae) based on Adh and Gpdh sequences.
The immigrans species group in the Drosophilinae is one of the representative species groups of Drosophila in East Asia. Although this group constitutes a significant part of the drosophilid fauna in the Old World, only a few species have been analyzed in previous molecular phylogenetic studies. To study the phylogeny of the immigrans group, we analyzed the nucleotide sequences of two nuclear g...
متن کاملMalathion Resistance in Drosophila melanogaster (Diptera: Drosophilidae)
Malathion resistance developed in a Drosophila melanogaster population that has been exposed to malathion for almost 20 years. Genetic analyses showed that malathion resistance in this population is under control of several genes that are located on the first, second and third chromosome. The second chromosome contributes the most to resistance; the factor(s) involved may be (partly) dominant o...
