The Coupled Effects of Irrigation Scheduling and Nitrogen Fertilization Mode on Growth, Yield and Water Use Efficiency in Drip-Irrigated Winter Wheat

Sound irrigation and nitrogen management strategies are necessary to achieve sustainable yield water use efficiency of winter wheat in the North China Plain (NCP). The coupled effects scheduling application mode (NAM) on growth, under drip were evaluated with a two-year field experiment, which consisted three levels (ISLs) (irrigating when soil consumption (SWC) reached 20, 35 50 mm, referred as I20, I35 I50, respectively) modes (NAMs) (ratio basal topdressing 50:50, 25:75 0:100, N50:50, N25:75 N0:100, respectively). experimental results showed that irrigating at ISL substantially (p < 0.05) improved grain by 15.89%, 3.32% 14.82%, 4.31% (WUE) 5.23%, 16.03% 5.26%, 12.36%, compared those I20 I50 2017–2018 2018–2019 growing seasons, respectively. NAM appeared very beneficial terms yield, components WUE other levels. maximum (8.62 9.40 t ha−1) (1.88 2.09 kg m−3) achieved treatment I35N25:75 two seasons over treatments. this study may deliver scientific basis for fertilization drip-irrigated production NCP.
