The Construct Validity of Vallerand’s Academic Motivation Scale (AMS)

It seems that the academic motivation structure is affected by cultural factors. Many studies have examined factorial of scale (AMS), and results showed different structures AMS (e.g., Taghipour Ali Hosein et al. (EL-yazidi Louzani, 2017) concluded consists two dimensions; Natalya Purwanto (2018) it three Alruaili (2020) four Abu Awad (2009) six dimensions). The one most widely used measures across world. was built on basis self-determination theory. current study aimed at investigating using exploratory factor analysis (PCA) confirmatory (CFA). applied to a sample 401 university students. PCA suggested three-factor solution (intrinsic motivation, extrinsic Amotivation), CFA conducted for competing (three factors, five seven factors); confirmed AMS. also dimensions had good alpha coefficient values which were greater than acceptable cut-off value 0.7. In conclusion, Jordanian version valid 24 items loaded factors (intrinsic, extrinsic, Amotivation) measuring motivation.
