The Competitiveness of Regional Urban System in Hubei Province of China

Urban competitiveness is an indispensable topic for urban management. The purpose of this work was to study the status quo system in any region and explore internal factors that affect competitiveness. In study, 30 indicators were selected from six dimensions: population, economic strength, infrastructure, technology culture, open exchange, quality life, a two-level evaluation index constructed. entropy weight method used calculate weight, 12 prefecture-level cities Hubei Province taken as object. This found province, (1) science, technology, culture are first driving forces competitiveness; (2) impact life on deepening obvious, especially residents’ consumption; (3) Wuhan, provincial capital city, far ahead terms its competition position unshakable, followed by Yichang Xiangyang. Overall, gap between gradually narrowing.
