The colonial swamp in Mandatory Palestine: the Na’amien wetlands between local and global British interests in Palestine

The article focuses on the story of Na’amien swamp south Acre, one Palestine’s most extensive swamps, an area where many plans to control it were begun and failed throughout Mandatory period but only finally addressed following establishment State Israel. Colonial Zionist environmental stances often point similar views regarding land development advantages rule provided movement at expense Arab-Palestinian population. This will argue that British policy was not formulated merely due similarities common interests authorities Zionists. There also a complex set considerations typified by internal contradictions, varying interpretations progress as justification for colonialism, changing responses local economic political developments in European arena.
