چکیده
BackgroundThe efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the arthroscopic treatment rotator cuff injury has been reported literature. However, conclusions have inconsistent and more often related to differences types PRP used. Therefore, minimize these differences, we performed a meta-analysis only studies investigating leukocyte-poor evaluate whether promotes improves effects repair.MethodsA comprehensive search PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library databases was conducted repair. The available data were extracted, methodologic quality included evaluated by risk-of-bias assessment tool.ResultsIn total, 10 randomized controlled trials involving 742 patients included. results showed that with better than control relieving postoperative pain short-term (mean difference [MD], –0.57; 95% confidence interval [CI], –0.79 –0.35; P < .0001) medium- long-term (MD, –0.18; CI, –0.34 –0.03; = .02) follow-up groups. changes MD visual analog scale score below minimal clinically important difference. Platelet-rich plasma augmentation for arthroscopic rotator cuff repair: a randomized controlled trial.
BACKGROUND After reinsertion on the humerus, the rotator cuff has limited ability to heal. Growth factor augmentation has been proposed to enhance healing in such procedure. PURPOSE This study was conducted to assess the efficacy and safety of growth factor augmentation during rotator cuff repair. STUDY DESIGN Randomized controlled trial; Level of evidence, 1. METHODS Eighty-eight patient...
متن کاملEfficacy of platelet-rich plasma in arthroscopic repair of full-thickness rotator cuff tears: a meta-analysis.
BACKGROUND The use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an innovative clinical therapy, especially in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical improvement and tendon-to-bone healing with and without PRP therapy in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. METHODS A systematic search was done in the major medical databases to evaluate the studies using PRP th...
متن کاملPlatelet Rich Plasma in Rotator Cuff Repair
Despite clinical success rates over 85%, persistent anatomic defects after rotator cuff repair are common and depend on the size of the tear repaired. The etiology of delayed or failed tendon to bone healing is multifactorial and biologic augmentation of a rotator cuff repair would be clinically desirable. Autogenous platelets contain many growth factors and are critical in the physiology of bo...
متن کاملClinical Results of Platelet-Rich Plasma for Partial Thickness Rotator Cuff Tears: A Case Series
Partial thickness rotator cuff tears (PTRCTs) are a common pathology among shoulder disorders in people over 50 years.Treatment of PTRCTs remains controversial. Most studies on the treatment of PTRCTs have explained surgical techniquesor outcomes; few studies have centralized on the conservative and new management of PTRCTs, like treatmentwith Platelet-rich plasma (PRP). These case series study...

Abstract Background: Rotator cuff tear is one of the most common causes of shoulder complaints in the elderly. Based on the severity and patient's condition, a variety of methods applies to manage the tear and surgery is an important method, which could be done by open or arthroscopic technique. The current study aimed to investigate and report short-term results of arthroscopic repair of...
