The Benefit of Shift Work Schedules for Nurses’ Outcome: A Sytematic Review

Background: the nurse scheduling problem (NSP) is a serious and complex challenge in medical industry. Effective, efficient, high-quality services must be carried out by nurses hospitals.Purpose: goal of systematic review was to find how have positive impact on shift schedules professional hospitals.Methods: employed PRISMA approach. Electronic search engines from Proquest, Science Direct, Ebsco were used locate pertinent publications. Only English-language publications released between January 1, 2019 December 31, 2021, had an inpatient hospital focus.Results: after identifying 265 references initially, duplicates eliminated, then authors 6 papers chosen. Overall, reported that 12-hour shifts favorable retention, including "the ability retain experienced staff." Most are flexible, don't get too tired, will respond patient requests like "better handoff" "improvement morale", Conclusion: Given supposed work about 37 hours per week popular (i.e., three 12-hours). Nurse managers may think taking action assist reducing potential job stress brought need order maintain care. More investigation required.
