چکیده

The studies on the auriculotemporal nerve in humans are limited. However, we considered crucial to investigate topographic relation between and TMJ region that can explain some of symptoms TMDs. results derived from our experience anatomic dissection 16 adult cadaveric heads were compared with what literature describes 1971 2023. confirm existence a particular position ATN within infratemporal fossa direct contact lateral pterygoid muscle capsular region. Therefore, there is evidence potential entrapment mechanism involving caused by an internal derangement or spastic condition muscle. Through detailed anatomical description present study aims offer explanation main sensory otological patients disorders often complaint, facial pain paresthesias external ear pruritus.

TMJ anatomy and animal models.

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a cardinal feature that defines the class Mammalia and separates mammals from other vertebrates. Clinical anatomy of the auriculotemporal nerve in the area of the infratemporal fossa.

The auriculotemporal nerve is a sensory branch extending from the posterior section of the mandibular nerve trunk. Its nerve roots form a short trunk, which gives off a number of branches, innervating: the temporomandibular joint, the temporal region, structures of the external ear: auricle, and external acoustic meatus, and the parotid gland. It also conducts excretory fibres to the buccal...
