The Association between Mood, Inhibitory Control and Depressive Symptoms: An Ecological Momentary Assessment Study

چکیده

Introduction Cognitive models of depression highlight the role inhibitory control - cognitive ability which supports our goal directed behavior – as key and even causal feature disorder. According to these models, deficits in prevent exclusion irrelevant negative information, leading rumination sustained mood result depressive episodes. However, scientific evidence linking is thus far mixed. Moreover, although one’s may fluctuate, it often assessed using a single-time measurement lab. Objectives Here we aimed assess association between intra-individual fluctuations measured ecological settings, daily states, symptoms. Methods N=106 participants (Mean age: 38 ± 10 years; range: 19-62 68% female) reported their symptoms (using PHQ-9 scale) completed mobile version Go-NoGo inhibition task at baseline. They then 5-day ecological-momentary-assessment (EMA) protocol, they current IMS-12 performed shortened twice/day application. Depressive were again following EMA. Hierarchical-linear-modeling (HLM) was applied examine momentary IC mood, with post-EMA moderator. Inhibitory included time-varying predictor for 1 st step, interaction 2 nd step. Results At baseline, there no correlations ( r p = .035, n.s). individuals elevated demonstrated worse more variable performance over time .29, .002), captured EMA measures. In addition, also end period .27, .006). Finally, moderated such that reduced associated only those lower, but not higher, (Figure 1). Image: Conclusions Variable, rather than mere related modulating differs non-depressed vs. depressed individuals. These findings contribute understanding real life help account some discrepant depression. Future investigations should validity outcomes other, clinical samples. Disclosure Interest None Declared

Co-Variation of Depressive Mood and Locomotor Dynamics Evaluated by Ecological Momentary Assessment in Healthy Humans

Computerized ecological momentary assessment (EMA) is widely accepted as a "gold standard" method for capturing momentary symptoms repeatedly experienced in daily life. Although many studies have addressed the within-individual temporal variations in momentary symptoms compared with simultaneously measured external criteria, their concurrent associations, specifically with continuous physiologi...

Depressive Symptoms and Momentary Mood Predict Momentary Pain Among Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients.

BACKGROUND Although a relationship between mood and pain has been established cross-sectionally, little research has examined this relationship using momentary within-person data. PURPOSE We examined whether baseline depressive symptoms and within-person levels of negative and positive mood predicted momentary pain among 31 individuals with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). METHODS Depressive symp...

Ecological momentary assessment.

Assessment in clinical psychology typically relies on global retrospective self-reports collected at research or clinic visits, which are limited by recall bias and are not well suited to address how behavior changes over time and across contexts. Ecological momentary assessment (EMA) involves repeated sampling of subjects' current behaviors and experiences in real time, in subjects' natural en...

Be active and become happy: an ecological momentary assessment of physical activity and mood.

The positive effects of physical activity on mood are well documented in cross-sectional studies. To date there have been only a few studies analyzing within-subject covariance between physical activity and mood in everyday life. This study aims to close this gap using an ambulatory assessment of mood and physical activity. Thirteen participants completed a standardized diary over a 10-week per...
