The arsenic tolerance of plant species

چکیده

There is a naturally occurring source of arsenic in the environment due to anthropogenic and geological processes (Zhao et al., 2010). It estimated that millions people around world, particularly South East Asia, have been poisoned by As polluted ground water food (Kile 2007, Zhu 2008; Pal 2009). increasing interest Phytoremediation, plant-based green method can be used clean up As-contaminated soil (Kertulis –Tartar Yong, possible harvest remove toxins from contaminated location harvesting plant tissues accumulated contaminants. In order ingest soil, plants use phosphate uptake pathways, i.e., apoplastic or symplastic mechanisms (shoots leaves). The effectiveness plant's phytoremediation process gauged measuring quantity moves roots shoots.

A comparative study for air pollution tolerance index of some terrestrial plant species

Although water and land pollution are very dangerous, air pollution has its own peculiarities due to its transboundary dispersion of pollutants over the entire world. In any well planned urban set up, industrial pollution takes a back seat and vehicular emissions take precedence as the major cause of urban air pollution. In the present study, Air pollution tolerance index was calculated for var...

Species-specific enzymatic tolerance of sulfide toxicity in plant roots

Toxic effects of sulfide come from a poisoning of a number of enzymes, especially cytochrome c oxidase, which catalyzes the terminal step in mitochondrial aerobic respiration. Despite this, some estuarine plants live in sulfide-rich sediments. We hypothesized estuarine and flooding-tolerant species might be more tolerant of sulfide compared to upland species, and this was tested by measures of ...

Predicting Arsenic Behavior in the Wastewater of Mouteh Gold Plant by Geochemical Modeling

Arsenic is one of the heavy metals and nearly all its compounds, especially organic compounds, are toxic. The wide spectrum of diseases caused by this element has led to evaluation of the toxicity of different arsenic species and identification of the major natural and anthropogenic pollution sources of it in the nature. Mining activities are among the main sources of anthropogenic pollution of...

Hydration of arsenic oxyacid species.

The bond distances in hydrated arsenic oxyacid species in aqueous solution have been studied by EXAFS spectroscopy and large angle X-ray scattering, LAXS. These results have been compared to structures in the solid state, as found in an extensive survey of available crystal structures. Protonated oxygen atoms can be distinguished with a longer As-O distance for both arsenic(V) and arsenic(III) ...

Arsenic Toxicity: The Effects on Plant Metabolism

The two forms of inorganic arsenic, arsenate (AsV) and arsenite (AsIII), are easily taken up by the cells of the plant root. Once in the cell, AsV can be readily converted to AsIII, the more toxic of the two forms. AsV and AsIII both disrupt plant metabolism, but through distinct mechanisms. AsV is a chemical analog of phosphate that can disrupt at least some phosphate-dependent aspects of meta...
