Background: Recently, with the high prevalence of diarrhoea caused by bacterial infection, usage antibiotics has increased. Antibiotic overuse might lead to several side effects and resistance, suggesting development an alternate antibacterial agent. A mangrove plant, Acanthus Illinois, contained triterpenoid, which properties.
 Aim: This study aimed evaluate effect Illinois n-hexane fraction against Escherichia coli Shigella dysenteriae.
 Method: The was using n-Hexane, identification secondary metabolite compound GC-MS, evaluation activity dysenteriae under paper disc methods. designed a fully randomized design (CRD) concentrations fractions 1%, 2%, 4%.
