accuracy of linear measurements using cone beam computed tomography in comparison with clinical measurements
objectives: this study sought to evaluate the accuracy and errors of linear measurements of mesiodistal dimensions of kennedy class iii edentulous space using cone beam computed tomography (cbct) in comparison with clinical measurements. materials and methods: nineteen kennedy class iii dental arches were evaluated. an impression was made of each dental arch and poured with dental stone. the di...
متن کاملInfluence of a secondary downsizing of the femoral component on the extension gap: a cadaveric study.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of a secondary reduction of the femoral component size on flexion and extension gaps intraoperatively in posterior-stabilized total knee arthroplasty (PS-TKA) monitored by computer-assisted surgery. The authors hypothesized that cutting additional bone on the posterior femoral condyle may increase the extension gap due to the posterior capsul...
متن کاملAnthropometric Measurements of Distal Femur to Design the Femoral Component of Total Knee Arthroplasty for the Iranian Population
Background: Acquiring knowledge about anatomic and geometric quantities of bones is among the most vitalparameters in orthopedic surgery that has a significant effect on the treatment of various disorders and subsequentoutcomes. The aim of this study was to obtain anthropometric information for distal femur in order to compare withsimilar dimensions of prosthesis used in total...
متن کاملA clinical study of the rotational alignment of the femoral component in total knee arthroplasty
We describe here various surgical options to obtain a correct rotational alignment of femoral component in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The correct rotational alignment is the key point to obtain a rectangular balanced flexion gap as well to have a good patellar tracking. For that reason, rotation alignment largely affects postoperative kinematic results particularly during flexion.
متن کاملRotational alignment of the femoral component using trochlear navigation during total knee arthroplasty: a dual-center study of 145 cases.
Rotational alignment of the femoral component during TKA is critical. Here we propose a technique using navigation of the femoral trochlea to determine the rotation of the femoral component. The rotation is considered "ideal" when the component position leads to the arthroplasty trochlea being perfectly superimposed over the native trochlea. Thus the arthroplasty trochlea will be aligned on the...
