The A Traditional Method for Umbilical Cord Care using "Campuh" (Turmeric and Betel Leaf) in Banten Province, Indonesia

One of the traditional methods for umbilical cord care in Indonesia is campuh method, which uses turmeric and betel leaves. The purpose this research to find out how mothers Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) perform newborns using method Sukawana Village, Curug District, Serang City, Banten Province. This a descriptive qualitative with case study design. Interviews were conducted who used taking their baby's cord, local health workers. result showed that was treated traditionally good condition, has brownish color dry. period fell off between 3-8 days there not infection signs. respondents' reason still because birth helped by TBA, also carried TBA so TBA. been community area generations, far according respondents have no cases previously, family supported. However, are less hygienic certainly very risky occurrence (omphalitis) neonatal babies can lead sepsis infant mortality, it necessary do education approaches from healthcare workers longer use cord.
