چکیده

Research aimed at finding alternative fuels to replace petroleum diesel (petrodiesel) used in controlled combustion engines (CCEs) has identified biodiesel as one of the main candidates, due its sustainability and potential for use energy matrices. In this study, gas emissions from a CCE were investigated, with focus on total hydrocarbons (THC) carbon monoxide (CO). Biodiesel (B100) samples derived transesterification frying oil, produced applying conventional chemical catalysis (CC) or non-thermal plasma (NTP) technology, tested fuels. Three engine rotation speeds investigated (900, 1500, 2500 rpm) obtained residual oil compared road (S-500) without added, acquired station. Blends also prepared S-500 B100 NTP 15 30 min, mixes containing 2, 12, 20, 50% biodiesel. These blends showed reductions THC CO 62% 80%, respectively, 100% S-500. Thus, offers low THC, highlighting using technology.

Prediction of performance and exhaust emissions of a diesel engine fueled with biodiesel produced from waste frying palm oil

Biodiesel is receiving increasing attention each passing day because of its fuel properties and compatibility with the petroleum-based diesel fuel (PBDF). Therefore, in this study, the prediction of the engine performance and exhaust emissions is carried out for five different neural networks to define how the inputs affect the outputs using the biodiesel blends produced from waste frying palm ...

Diesel Engine Performance and Exhaust Emissions Using Cottonseed Oil Biodiesel

Non-road diesel engines are significant contributors to air pollution in the United States (USEPA, 2004). These engines emit particulate matter (PM), nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and other pollutants. The Clean Air Non-road Diesel Rule was put in place to reduce emission levels from agricultural, construction, and industrial diesel powered equipment. This rule calls for a reduct...

Exhaust Emissions and Performance of Diesel Engines with Biodiesel Fuels

The use of biodiesel fuels derived from vegetable oils or animal fats as a substitute for conventional petroleum fuel in diesel engines is receiving an increasing amount of attention. This interest is based on a number of properties of biodiesel including the fact that it is produced from a renewable resource, its biodegradability, and its potential to reduce exhaust emissions. Transient exhaus...
