چکیده

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an imaging technique based on interferometry of backscattered lights from materials and biological samples. For the quantitative evaluation OCT system, artificial optical samples or phantoms are commonly used. They mimic structure tissues can provide a quality standard for comparison within across devices. Phantoms contain medium matrix scattering particles dimension range target structures such as retina. The aim was to determine if changes in speckle derived texture could be employed classify their structural composition. Four groups phantom types were prepared imaged. These comprise different concentrations (gelatin solution), sized polystyrene beads (PBs), volume PBs refractive indices scatterers (PBs SiO2). Texture analysis applied detect subtle differences image intensity, surface coarseness brightness regions interest. A semi-automated classifier principal component (PCA) support vector machine (SVM) discriminate various models. detected correctly textures 82% 100%, demonstrating that images potentially used light scattering.

Spectroscopic phase-dispersion optical coherence tomography measurements of scattering phantoms.

We demonstrate a novel technique to determine the size of Mie scatterers with high sensitivity. Our technique is based on spectral domain optical coherence tomography measurements of the dispersion that is induced by the scattering process. We use both Mie scattering predictions and dispersion measurements of phantoms to show that the scattering dispersion is very sensitive to small changes in ...

Phantoms for performance assessment of optical coherence tomography systems

In this paper, we describe the procedures to make epoxy resin and agarose phantoms designed using Mie scattering calculations. The phantoms are constructed to be used in the estimation of point spread function (PSF) of an optical coherence tomography (OCT) and evaluation of optical properties extraction (OPE) algorithm.

Artery phantoms for intravascular optical coherence tomography: healthy arteries

We present a method to make phantoms of coronary arteries for intravascular optical coherence tomography (IV-OCT). The phantoms provide a calibrated OCT response similar to the layered structure of arteries. The optical properties of each layer are achieved with specific concentrations of alumina and carbon black in a silicone matrix. This composition insures high durability and also approximat...

Texture analysis of speckle in optical coherence tomography images of tissue phantoms.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an imaging modality capable of acquiring cross-sectional images of tissue using back-reflected light. Conventional OCT images have a resolution of 10-15 microm, and are thus best suited for visualizing tissue layers and structures. OCT images of collagen (with and without endothelial cells) have no resolvable features and may appear to simply show an expone...

Clinical Applications of Optical Coherence Tomography in Ophthalmology

Assessment of the peripapillary nerve fiber layer and macular thickness can be determined in ophthalmology using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Decreased nerve fiber layer thickness and macular ganglion cell thickness in optic nerve ischemia have been correlated with visual field loss. OCT allows deep optic nerve head evaluation which helps understand pathophysiology of diseases.  Furtherm...
