Testosterone amendment alters metabolite profiles of the soil microbial community

چکیده

Steroid hormones are prevalent in the environment and have become emerging pollutants, but little is known about their effects on soil microbial community composition function. In present study, three representative soils China were amended with environmentally relevant concentrations of testosterone responses bacterial function assessed using high-throughput sequencing nontargeted metabolomics. Our results showed that exposure significantly shifted structure metabolic profiles at Ningbo (NB) Kunming (KM), which may reflect high bioavailability hormone. Abundances several taxa associated nutrient cycling reduced by metabolites related to amino acid metabolism downregulated. A close connection between specific was observed confirmed Procrustes tests a co-occurrence network. These provide an insight into steroid highlight metabolomics effective tool for investigating impacts pollutants.

Fire Alters Vegetation and Soil Microbial Community in Alpine Meadow

Grassland fire, as an important ecological factor, is quite influential in determining the structural and functional stability of ecosystem. In this work, the fire-induced changes on the vegetation and soil microbial community were studied in alpine meadow. Microbial community composition was assessed by phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) analysis, and functional diversity was determined by Biolog ...

Variations in microbial community composition through two soil depth profiles

Soil profiles are often many meters deep, but with the majority of studies in soil microbiology focusing exclusively on the soil surface, we know very little about the nature of the microbial communities inhabiting the deeper soil horizons. We used phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) analysis to examine the vertical distribution of specific microbial groups and to identify the patterns of microbial ...

Elevated carbon dioxide alters the structure of soil microbial communities.

Pyrosequencing analysis of 16S rRNA genes was used to examine impacts of elevated CO(2) (eCO(2)) on soil microbial communities from 12 replicates each from ambient CO(2) (aCO(2)) and eCO(2) settings. The results suggest that the soil microbial community composition and structure significantly altered under conditions of eCO(2), which was closely associated with soil and plant properties.
