چکیده

The Cherenkov Telescope Array will provide the deepest survey of Galactic Plane performed at very-high-energy gamma-rays. Consequently, this unavoidably face challenge source confusion, i.e., non-unique attribution signal to a due multiple overlapping sources. Among known populations gamma-ray sources and given their extension number, pulsar wind nebulae (PWNe, PWN TeV halos) be most affected. We aim probe confusion PWNe in forthcoming CTA data. For purpose, we analyzed simulations artificially confused with CTA. As basis for our simulations, applied study data collected from H.E.S.S. Survey ten extended two point-like firmly identified PWNe, probing various configurations involving different projected separations, relative orientations, flux levels, extensions among Source defined here appear when sum Gaussian width is larger than separation between centroids, occurred $\sim$30% simulations. sample 0.5$\deg$ average sources, found that can likely resolve up 60% those above 500 GeV. Finally, also considered isolated see how well they could matched library morphological templates. outcome indicates remarkable capability (more 95% cases studied) match simulation correct input template its proper orientation.

Towards an optimized design for the Cherenkov Telescope Array

The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) is a future instrument for very-high-energy (VHE) gamma-ray astronomy that is expected to deliver an order of magnitude improvement in sensitivity over existing instruments. In order to meet the physics goals of CTA in a cost-effective way, Monte Carlo simulations of the telescope array are used in its design. Specifically, we simulate large arrays comprising...

FRAM for the Cherenkov Telescope Array: an update

The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) is a project to build a new generation ground-based gammaray observatory. The FRAM – F(/Ph)otometric Robotic Atmospheric Monitor – is a device, which can provide it with the Vertical Aerosol Optical Depth (VAOD) maps in the field of view of the CTA in almost real time (delay in minutes). The FRAM is a small fast robotic astronomical telescope with a large fie...

Prospects for Cherenkov Telescope Array Observations of the Young Supernova

We perform simulations for future Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) observations of RX J1713.7−3946, a young supernova remnant (SNR) and one of the brightest sources ever discovered in very-high-energy (VHE) gamma rays. Special attention is paid to explore possible spatial (anti-)correlations of gamma rays with emission at other wavelengths, in particular X-rays and CO/Hi emission. We present a s...

An Innovative Workspace for The Cherenkov Telescope Array

The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) is an initiative to build the next generation, ground-based gamma-ray observatories. We present a prototype workspace developed at INAF that aims at providing innovative solutions for the CTA community. The workspace leverages open source technologies providing web access to a set of tools widely used by the CTA community. Two different user interaction model...
