چکیده
Abstract Steel braces are widely used to stabilize steel structures forming horizontal or vertical truss structures; however, their relatively poor buckling behaviour is often lead overdesigned structures. Induction Heat (IH) treatment technology a novel contactless material transformation process effectively strengthen local areas of sections. Utilizing IH increase the strength middle length brace sections, can be improved. The present study experimentally investigates compression fabricated by IH‐treated circular hollow A Digital Image Correlation (DIC) system measure experimental deformation quantities, such as axial displacements, out‐of‐plane deformations, and strain distributions along length. Four specimens were tested with two set different slenderness ratios (λ). Each includes one conventional (CSB) (IHSB) stronger section at its mid‐length. subjected monotonic displacement‐controlled loading history until reaching an compressive 2.5%. It was found that load up 20% in IHSBs. also beneficial improving post‐buckling brace. more than double IHSBs CSBs ductility level 5 (ductility defined ratio target displacement yielding displacement). Moreover, displacements reduced 28% for 1% showing evenly distribution demands

Crystallographic Texture of Induction-welded and Heat-treated Pipeline Steel
The Charpy energy of the sample after heat–treatment was significantly higher than the as–welded sample when the V–notches were located 1 or 3 mm away from FL. However, when the V–notch was located on FL, the improvement in toughness from the heat treatment was not so obvious with no enhancement noted for the test temperature of −40 ◦C. Under this condition, the facets of the fracture surface a...
متن کاملAn Experimental Study on Seismic Performance of Steel Truss Coupling Beams with Buckling-restrained Brace
Through the pseudo-static test on the steel truss coupling beams with buckling-restrained brace, the bearing capacity, deformation capacity, hysteresis curve, skeleton curve, ductility, Energy Dissipation and stiffness degradation of such coupling beam are understood. The test results show that the steel truss coupling beams with buckling-restrained brace is characterized by bigger bearing capa...
متن کاملEstimation of Hysteretic Damping in Steel Dual Systems with Buckling Restrained Brace and Moment Resisting Frame
Abstract—Nowadays, energy dissipation devices are commonly used in structures. High rate of energy absorption during earthquakes is the benefit of using such devices, which results in damage reduction of structural elements, specifically columns. The hysteretic damping capacity of energy dissipation devices is the key point that it may adversely make analysis and design process complicated. Thi...
متن کاملOverview of theMechanisms of Failure in Heat Treated Steel Components
Design deficiencies are a common source of component failure. Examples include the presence of a sharp notch in regions of high stress or a fillet radii that is too sharp. Using a component design for a new application can also lead to unanticipated failures. Higher stresses or unanticipated service conditions can cause unforeseen failure because of complex or increased stress fields. Stress co...
متن کاملMeasurement of Decarburization of Heat Treated Steel Surfaces
Decarburization is a significant problem in the heat treatment of steels as decarburization is detrimental to wear life and fatigue life of components. This presentation concentrates on its measurement by four procedures. Test results from an interlaboratory test of steels with spheroidize annealed, lamellar pearlite (normalized) and quenched and tempered martensitic microstructures were evalua...
