چکیده

Brown root-rot disease is caused by phytopathogenic white-rot basidiomycete fungus, Pyyrhoderma noxium. Currently, it causing significant issues for the Brisbane hinterland in Queensland, Australia and killing many tree species throughout greater Metropolitan area, including park street trees located Shorncliffe, Taringa, New Farm, Eagle West End, Hamilton, Indooroopilly, River, City Centre. being attacked are figs, poinciana, jacarandas, Chinese elms, Moreton Bay eucalypts, kauris, hoop pines these include both public privately owned trees. A joint study between University of Sunshine Coast (UniSC) Council (BCC) aimed to assess efficacy different biological control agents infections region. In a substudy presented here, termite gut-associated actinomycetes were evaluated determine their antifungal abilities against pathogen.

Entomopathogenic Fungi as Dual Control Agents against Both the Pest Myzus persicae and Phytopathogen Botrytis cinerea

The green peach aphid (Myzus persicae), a plant pest, and gray mold disease, caused by Botrytis cinerea, affect vegetables and fruit crops all over the world. To control this aphid and mold, farmers typically rely on the use of chemical insecticides or fungicides. However, intensive use of these chemicals over many years has led to the development of resistance. To overcome this problem, there ...

Phytopathogen type III effectors as probes of biological systems

Bacterial phytopathogens utilize a myriad of virulence factors to modulate their plant hosts in order to promote successful pathogenesis. One potent virulence strategy is to inject these virulence proteins into plant cells via the type III secretion system. Characterizing the host targets and the molecular mechanisms of type III secreted proteins, known as effectors, has illuminated our underst...

Efficacy of Chaetomium Species as Biological Control Agents against Phytophthora nicotianae Root Rot in Citrus

Thailand is one of the largest citrus producers in Southeast Asia. Pathogenic infection by Phytophthora, however, has become one of major impediments to production. This study identified a pathogenic oomycete isolated from rotted roots of pomelo (Citrus maxima) in Thailand as Phytophthora nicotianae by the internal transcribed spacer ribosomal DNA sequence analysis. Then, we examined the in vit...

Isolation and evaluation of bacteria and fungi as biological control agents against Rhizoctonia solani.

Rhizoctonia solani is one of the most important limiting factors for potato production and storage in Belgium and worldwide. Its management is still strongly dependent on chemical treatments. The aim of this work was to evaluate the possibility of exploiting bacteria and fungi in order to control this pathogen. Among a collection of 220 bacterial strains isolated from different organs of health...

Probiotic bacteria as biological control agents in aquaculture.

There is an urgent need in aquaculture to develop microbial control strategies, since disease outbreaks are recognized as important constraints to aquaculture production and trade and since the development of antibiotic resistance has become a matter of growing concern. One of the alternatives to antimicrobials in disease control could be the use of probiotic bacteria as microbial control agent...
