Temporal Variations in Landslide Distributions Following Extreme Events: Implications for Landslide Susceptibility Modeling

چکیده

Landslide susceptibility models are fundamental components of landslide risk management strategies. These typically assume that occurrence is time-independent, even though processes including earthquake preconditioning and path dependency transiently impact occurrence. Understanding the temporal characteristics remains limited by a lack systematic investigation into how distributions vary through time, this impacts susceptibility. Here, we apply Kolmogorov-Smirnoff chi-square statistics to 30-yr inventory monsoon-triggered landslides from Nepal systematically quantify spatial time in “normal” years impacted extreme events. Overall, results challenge time-independent assumptions approaches, highlighting need time-dependent modeling techniques or modeling.

Regional landslide susceptibility: spatiotemporal variations under dynamic soil moisture conditions

Quantification of landslide susceptibility variability in space and time in response to static and dynamic conditions is a fundamental research challenge. Here, we identify and apply new modeling and remote sensing observation techniques to statistically characterize susceptibility distributions under dynamic moisture conditions. The methods are applied at two study regions: Cleveland Corral, C...

Predicting the susceptibility of landslide occurrence in order to manage landslide risk in Bar Neyshabur watershed

Background and objective: Landslide susceptibility zoning using different methods is one of the landslide management strategies. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the landslides susceptibility in the Bar watershed in Khorasan Razavi province using the support vector machine (SVM) algorithm. Method: First, the landslide layer of the area was corrected through field visits and Google Earth...

Spatially and temporally distributed modeling of landslide susceptibility

Mapping of landslide susceptibility in forested watersheds is important for management decisions. In forested watersheds, especially in mountainous areas, the spatial distribution of relevant parameters for landslide prediction is often unavailable. This paper presents a GIS-based modeling approach that includes representation of the uncertainty and variability inherent in parameters. In this a...
