Phase locking of nanosecond pulses in a passively Q-switched two-element fiber laser array
Phase locking of Brillouin backscattering Q-switched laser pulses that are much shorter than the round-trip time of the resonators has been demonstrated in a two-element fiber laser array. Despite the stochastic dynamics of nonlinear pulse generation, simultaneous generation and phase locking of short pulses have been achieved by using diffractive coupling and spatial filtering in an external r...

Periodical switching laser pulses with nanosecond pulse width and several kilowatts peak power from wideseparated multilongitudinal-mode oscillation were observed experimentally in laser-diode pumped passively Q-switched Yb:YAG microchip laser with Cr:YAG as saturable absorber. Pulses from different longitudinal modes oscillate alternatively. Periodical pulses oscillation dynamics induced by sp...
متن کاملPassively Q-Switched Microchip Lasers Enable Ultrashort Pulses
high-peak-power subnanosecond pulses. No need for cumbersome high-voltage controllers or even a water cooling system. Passively Q-switched microchip technology for industrial lasers covers the range of hundreds of picoseconds down to 300 ps in the offerings of Teem Photonics. Peak powers in excess of 200 kW are readily available at 1 kHz using PowerChip microchip cavities, and a 50-kHz repetiti...
متن کاملUltrashort Q-switched pulses from a passively mode-locked distributed Bragg reflector semiconductor laser.
A compact semiconductor mode-locked laser (MLL) is presented that demonstrates strong passive Q-switched mode-locking over a wide range of drive conditions. The Q-switched frequency is tunable between 1 and 4 GHz for mode-locked pulses widths around 3.5 ps. The maximum ratio of peak to average power of the pulse-train is >120, greatly exceeding that of similarly sized passively MLLs.
متن کاملCharacterization of energy transfer for passively Q-switched laser ignition.
Miniaturized passively Q-switched Nd:YAG/Cr(4+):YAG lasers are promising candidates as spark sources for sophisticated laser ignition. The influence of the complex spatial-temporal pulse profile of such lasers on the process of plasma breakdown and on the energy transfer is studied. The developed measurement technique is applied to an open ignition system as well as to prototypes of laser spark...
