چکیده

End-gas auto-ignition leading to knocking combustion is one of the major barriers achieving higher thermal efficiencies in downsized boosted spark-ignition engines. Despite available framework addressing hotspot-induced ignition (detonation peninsula), a quantitative investigation on gasoline surrogates yet be done. In particular, effect negative temperature coefficient (NTC) chemistry distribution modes detonation peninsula still missing. Using established one-dimensional (1D) theoretical and computational framework, average (including NTC range), initial pressure, ethanol addition are investigated. Moreover, appearance chemistry-related events i.e. coolspots, secondary kernels, off-centered analyzed using 1D simulations. The results as follows. 1) affects regimes dynamics front propagation via altering reactivity gradient. 2) increases gradient range associated with regime. 3) may inhibit development by simultaneously promoting spontaneous/supersonic modes. 4) An blend decreases knock propensity; however, lower ignitability promote strong shock waves. 5) Finally, result normal at pressures (20 bar). However, elevated (50 bar), noted yield pressure intensities resembling super-knock.

Detailed kinetic models for the low-temperature auto-ignition of gasoline surrogates

In the context of the search for gasoline surrogates for kinetic modeling purpose, this paper describes a new model for the low-temperature auto-ignition of n-heptane/iso-octane/hexene/toluene blends for the different linear isomers of hexene. The model simulates satisfactory experimental results obtained in a rapid compression machine for temperatures ranging from 650 to 850 K in the case of b...

Low-Temperature Combustion of High Octane Fuels in a Gasoline Compression Ignition Engine

Gasoline compression ignition (GCI) has been shown as one of the advanced combustion concepts that could potentially provide a pathway to achieve cleaner and more efficient combustion engines. Fuel and air in GCI are not fully premixed compared to homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI), which is a completely kinetic-controlled combustion system. Therefore, the combustion phasing can be ...

The development and experimental validation of a reduced ternary kinetic mechanism for the auto-ignition at HCCI conditions, proposing a global reaction path for ternary gasoline surrogates

To acquire a high amount of information of the behaviour of the Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) auto-ignition process, a reduced surrogate mechanism has been composed out of reduced n-heptane, iso-octane and toluene mechanisms, containing 62 reactions and 49 species. This mechanism has been validated numerically in a 0D HCCI engine code against more detailed mechanisms (inlet tem...

Experimental Study of Performance of Spark Ignition Engine with Gasoline and Natural Gas

The tests were carried out with the spark timing adjusted to the maximum brake torquetiming in various equivalence ratios and engine speeds for gasoline and natural gas operations. In thiswork, the lower heating value of gasoline is about 13.6% higher than that of natural gas. Based on theexperimental results, the natural gas operation causes an increase of about 6.2% brake special fuelconsumpt...
