Cooling-Sensitive TRPM8 Is Thermostat of Skin Temperature against Cooling
We have shown that cutaneous cooling-sensitive receptors can work as thermostats of skin temperature against cooling. However, molecule of the thermostat is not known. Here, we studied whether cooling-sensitive TRPM8 channels act as thermostats. TRPM8 in HEK293 cells generated output (y) when temperature (T) was below threshold of 28.4°C. Output (y) is given by two equations: At T >28.4°C, y = ...
متن کاملTopical cardiac cooling - computer simulation of myocardial temperature changes
Topical cardiac cooling (TC) is often used in cardiac surgery. We used a computer simulation to study temperature changes in the heart, especially in the right ventricular wall. A three-dimensional computer heart model, derived from Visible Human Data set, National Library of Medicine was used. The model is made from cubes, with spatial resolution of 1mm. Explicit Finite Different method and te...
متن کاملTemperature Simulations in Cooling Appliances
The R&D laboratory of Gorenje d. d. develops complex cooling appliances. To develop optimalperformance appliances, regarding all functionalities, also engineers from other areas are participating in a developing process. To allow for an easier and faster development, we used mathematically-based simulation and optimization tools. A cooling appliance operates optimally when it is able to cool to...
متن کاملSimulation of Radiant Cooling Performance with Evaporative Cooling Sources
This project addresses three closely related and similarly complex questions: First, using currently available simulation software, what methods might be appropriate for comparing slabintegrated radiant cooling to more conventional alternatives, such that the results are sufficiently fair and comprehensive to support system selection and design? Second, what is the relative performance of repre...
متن کاملSimulation Studies of Ionization Cooling
A μ-μ collider must compress the beam phase-space volume by a factor of ~10 to obtain high luminosity, and this beam cooling must occur before μ-decay. In this paper we present simulations of ionization cooling which explore the various conditions needed for cooling to collider conditions. Cooling by large factors is demonstrated and directions toward complete cooling scenarios are discussed.
