چکیده

Eutectic high entropy alloys are gaining increasing attention due to their excellent castability and combination of strength ductility in the as-cast state. However, detailed behavior nano-scale lamellar microstructure during deformation, particular interaction between phases, is not well understood. Here we use in-situ neutron diffraction tensile testing over a wide temperature range (77–673 K) obtain new insights into dependent mechanical interactions within phases initial plastic deformation an AlCoCrFeNi2.1 eutectic alloy. The load was transferred from L12 B2 phase yielding process, changing distribution with strongly suggests that <110>{001} cube slip activated at room above. This points towards alloying design for delayed octahedral-to-cube transition as possible strategy material.

Slip nucleation in single crystal FeNiCoCrMn high entropy alloy

a r t i c l e i n f o We present an experimental and theoretical study of slip nucleation in high entropy FeNiCoCrMn alloy which possesses superb mechanical properties. Uniaxial compression experiments were conducted on the ½591Š oriented single crystals. The single crystals permit evaluation of critical resolved shear stress (CRSS), and using Digital Image Correlation strain measurements it is...

A Promising New Class of High-Temperature Alloys: Eutectic High-Entropy Alloys

High-entropy alloys (HEAs) can have either high strength or high ductility, and a simultaneous achievement of both still constitutes a tough challenge. The inferior castability and compositional segregation of HEAs are also obstacles for their technological applications. To tackle these problems, here we proposed a novel strategy to design HEAs using the eutectic alloy concept, i.e. to achieve ...

Critical temperature of the lead–bismuth eutectic (LBE) alloy

Liquid metals such as Bi and Pb and Pb–Bi eutectic alloy are serious contenders for use as coolant in LMFBRs in lieu of sodium due to a number of attractive characteristics (high density, low moderation, low neutron absorption and activation, high boiling point and poor interaction with water and air, etc.). Analysis of hypothetical accidents is of relevance to predict the catastrophe involving...

Polymorphism in a high-entropy alloy

Polymorphism, which describes the occurrence of different lattice structures in a crystalline material, is a critical phenomenon in materials science and condensed matter physics. Recently, configuration disorder was compositionally engineered into single lattices, leading to the discovery of high-entropy alloys and high-entropy oxides. For these novel entropy-stabilized forms of crystalline ma...

Low cycle fatigue analysis of temperature and frequency effects in eutectic solder alloy

Low cycle isothermal mechanical fatigue testing of a eutectic alloy 63Sn/37Pb was carried out in a systematic manner over a wide range of frequencies (10–1 Hz) and temperatures (240 to 150°C) with the total strain set at different values (1–50%). The low cycle fatigue behavior of the eutectic solder was found to be strongly dependent on test temperature and frequency. If the Coffin–Manson model...
