چکیده

Abstract. The Slyne Basin, located offshore NW Ireland, is a narrow and elongated basin composed of series interconnected grabens half-grabens, separated by transfer zones coincident with deep crustal structures formed during the Silurian- to Devonian-aged Caledonian Orogeny. product complex, polyphase structural evolution stretching from Permian Miocene. Initially, relatively low-strain rifting occurred in Late again latest Triassic Middle Jurassic, followed third phase high-strain Jurassic. These extensional events were punctuated periods tectonic quiescence Early Jurassic strain was primarily accommodated several kilometres slip on basin-bounding faults, which through breaching relay ramps between left-stepping fault segments developed earlier Early–Middle rift phases. Following cessation at end area experienced kilometre-scale uplift erosion Cretaceous second, less severe denudation Palaeocene. post-rift distinct regional unconformities resulted reduced sedimentary section. Basin influenced pre-existing high angle basinal trend. illustrates rarely documented style reactivation faults are oblique trend, but initial parallel this result reversal sense stepping generally associated basement control faults.

Quantitative analysis, basin evolution and paleoecology of Early Miocene ostracods in the southwest of Kerman, Iran

This paper focuses on the quantitative analyses of Early Miocene ostracods in south and north of the Sirjan area, southwest of Kerman. Detailed studies resulted in identification of 23 species of ostracoda. The coexisting benthic foraminifera and comparing the identified microfauna assemblages with previous studies confirms the Early Miocene age for the strata. The quantitative analysis show a ...

Mesozoic basin inversion in Central Alborz, evidence from the evolution of Taleqan-Gajereh-Lar paleograben

This paper presents evidence on Mesozoic inversion of basin bounding faults within the Taleqan-Gajereh-Lar Paleograben (TGLP) in Central Alborz Range. For this purpose, well documented stratigraphy data across the TGLP together with the new acquired structural data on the geometry and kinematics of the paleograben basin bounding faults are utilized. The TGLP has evolved through the Early and Mi...

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

Modeling the evolution of the Guadalquivir foreland basin (southern Spain)

[1] Previous quantitative studies dealing with the origin of foreland basins have focused primarily either on the rheological basis of the lithosphere mechanical response or on the relationship between orogenic loading and sediment geometry. To link the evolution of the Guadalquivir foreland basin (South Iberia) with the thermomechanical stratification of the Iberian lithosphere, we combine qua...
