Tectonic Evolution of the Southern Dabie Orogenic Belt, China: Insights from Peak P–T Conditions and U–Pb Zircon Dating of the Susong Metamorphic Complex

The Susong metamorphic complex (SSC) in the southern margin of Dabie orogenic belt (DOB) central-eastern China is a key unit for understanding subduction and exhumation processes DOB. However, formation age grade SSC remain uncertain, hampering our mechanism An integrated study field survey, regional petrology, geothermobarometry, U–Pb dating zircon was carried out this study. Our results reveal that metamorphosed under epidote amphibolite- to amphibolite-facies conditions with average P–T values 0.98 ± 0.07 GPa 531 35 °C. smooth spatial variation peak an apparent geothermal gradient ~17 °C/km indicate as whole fall into Barrovian-type environments. Zircon garnet–mica schists sample ZT003, ZT005 ZT006 yield five (Groups I V), six VI) V) groups, respectively, concentrating on Meso-Neoarchean, early-middle Paleoproterozoic, middle Mesoproterozoic, early Neoproterozoic, Palaeozoic Triassic-lower Jurassic. Therein, 259–190 Ma (Group from zircons Th/U ratios <0.1 record timing both retrograde metamorphism SSC. All other ages are detrital ages, provenances DOB or Yangtze Block (YZB), indicating YZB affinity two youngest populations 427–415 475–418 samples ZT006, suggest could be Middle Devonian. similarity P-T Foziling Group, located northernmost DOB, implies units formed sedimentary cover passive continental during late Palaeozoic, subducted middle-lower crust 20–40 km depth whole, corresponding shallow subduction. Compared deep defined by high-pressure (HP) ultrahigh-pressure (UHP) units, larger differences conditions, between different tectonic environments happen. Accordingly, it speculated transitional levels occurred at Moho depths Early Triassic, due change dip angle.
