چکیده

Supermarkets in Port Harcourt (PH) city, Nigeria, predominantly rely on diesel electricity generation due to grid instability, leading high prices. Although solar photovoltaic (PV) systems have been proposed as an alternative, these supermarkets yet adopt them, mainly investment costs and a lack of awareness the long-term financial environmental benefits. This paper examines technical economic practicality PV system for using PVsyst software spreadsheet model. Solar resources showed that PH has daily average radiation temperature 4.21 kWh/m2/day 25.73 °C, respectively. Market Square, supermarket with highest peak power demand 59.8 kW 561 kWh/day load profile, was chosen case study. A capacity 232 kW, battery storage 34,021 Ah, charge controller size 100 A/560 V, inverter rating 60 V/75 designed meet demand. The analysis $266,936 life cycle cost, $0.14 per kWh levelized cost (LCOE), 4-year simple payback time, 20.5% internal rate return (IRR). is feasible its positive net present value (NPV) $165,322 carbon savings 582 tCO2/year.

Techno- Economic and Life- Cycle Cost Assessment of the CCHP/ PV Hybrid System Application

In recent decades, excessive using fossil fuels has been resulted in emitting greenhouse gases such as CO2, consequently, environmental pollution. In this study, the techno-economic analysis of the CCHP/PV hybrid system application for a sample building was examined to reduce the environmental pollution and primary energy consumption of the buildings. The life-cycle cost analysis was...

Retinopathy of Prematurity in Port Harcourt, Nigeria

Purpose. With many preterm babies now surviving as a result of improvement in neonatal care in Nigeria, the incidence of visual impairment/blindness as a result of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) may rise. We describe our findings after screening starts for the first time in a 15-year-old special care baby unit so as to establish the incidence and risk factors for developing ROP. Methods. A pr...

Empiric antibiotic prescription among febrile under-five Children in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Rivers State, Nigeria

Background: More than 97% of febrile infants and young children have self-limiting viral infection and therefore, would not require antibiotics. Over prescription of antibiotics increases antibiotics exposure and development of resistance among patients. There is need to evaluate empiric antibiotic prescription in order to limit its use to only febrile children with bacterial infection. Aim and...
