چکیده
Pressure retarded osmosis (PRO) is a power generation process that harnesses the salinity gradient between two water bodies of different salinities. Using high as draw solution, this work assesses techno-economic feasibility technology to generate electricity using single and multistage systems. This utilizes simulator built on rigorous Q-Electrolattice equation state mass transfer model accounts for concentration polarization, combined with Dakota optimization tool perform sensitivity analysis studies. The economic indicator interest Levelized Cost Electricity (LCOE), which serves compare PRO other sources renewable energy. An LCOE value USD 0.1255/kWh was obtained from use commercial membranes at an efficiency 100% mechanical components system. drops 0.0704/kWh when ideal membrane used—thus showing improvements economics possible improved properties. With currently obtainable properties equipment, single-stage increases 0.352/kWh, not cost-competitive energy sources. Setting up systems towards minimizing found be detrimental net production by plant.

Aspects of Mathematical Modelling of Pressure Retarded Osmosis.
In power generating terms, a pressure retarded osmosis (PRO) energy generating plant, on a river entering a sea or ocean, is equivalent to a hydroelectric dam with a height of about 60 meters. Therefore, PRO can add significantly to existing renewable power generation capacity if economical constrains of the method are resolved. PRO energy generation relies on a semipermeable membrane that is p...

In this study, the techno-economic analysis of lignocellulosic biomass conversion to electricity in a small scale power plant was conducted. The proposed process is based on the thermal pathway of electricity production from a carbon content feed. Woods, forest and agricultural residues were considered as the biomass feed, which are available extensively in Iran. Besides, the process benefits n...

Making targeted subsidies and the process of releasing energy market and specified criteria for the quality of energy delivered to consumers shows the necessity for the explanation of energy production in Iran. In the meantime, thermal power plants produce about 85% of electricity in Iran. Steam and gas turbine power plants have created the vast capacity of power generation in thermal plants, b...
متن کاملThermodynamic and energy efficiency analysis of power generation from natural salinity gradients by pressure retarded osmosis.
The Gibbs free energy of mixing dissipated when fresh river water flows into the sea can be harnessed for sustainable power generation. Pressure retarded osmosis (PRO) is one of the methods proposed to generate power from natural salinity gradients. In this study, we carry out a thermodynamic and energy efficiency analysis of PRO work extraction. First, we present a reversible thermodynamic mod...
متن کاملInvestigation of the Improvement of Energy Generation by Pressure Retarded Osmosis
Knowing the overall solute flux and the partial fluxes expressed by every single transport layer, the membrane internal interface concentrations can separately be expressed. Both the overall transport coefcient and the driving force strongly depend, among others, on the value of the structural parameter and the water permeability. Study of the interface concentrations as ...
