Abstract During the past few years, Egypt has increased share of electricity generation from renewable energy sources to achieve renewable-energy strategy. The Egyptian Ministry Electricity and Renewable Energy set an ambitious target increase among total mix be 20% by 2022 42% 2035. This will achieved using several approved policies such as feed-in tariffs, build–own–operate independent power producers under a merchant scheme. paper presents full analysis wind-potential characteristics at Elkharga Oasis in based on actual wind-measurement campaign taken met mast two height levels 10 25 m, respectively. measurements show average annual wind speed 5.72 m/s 10-m 6.53 >25-m height. estimated speed, however, is 8.38 120 which technically convenient generate energy. In this paper, potential area assessed statistical method Weibull probability density function. different methods estimate distribution parameters are presented relevant accuracy verified root mean square error. A techno-economic assessment selection optimal wind-turbine size with ideal micro-sitings performed software package windPRO.
