چکیده
The brewing sector is investigating the use of algae for CO 2 capture and wastewater treatment. Loofah-based biocomposites (composite materials comprising living or cyanobacteria immobilised to a loofah sponge support by latex polymer binder) were developed intensify biological as direct replacement conventional suspension cultures. This study presents simplified techno-economic analysis experimental exposed low light intensity (30.5 μmol m −2 s −1 ) (the scenario) compared predicted performance three well-known algal cultivation systems; open raceways, flat panel photobioreactors (PBR) biofilm PBRs, natural solar (467.6 ). systems applied emitted from beer fermentation. consisted of: 1) sizing achieve 90 % removal; 2) estimating annual water energy consumption; and, 3) calculating overall capital operating costs. avoidance costs estimated using an annualisation method evaluate against other carbon storage technologies. significantly decreased required per unit culture volume systems. biocomposite be between 120 140 US$ t CO2 avoided biomass yr scenario 90–110 scenario, which compares favourably with best performing established system (80–100 PBR). in higher due lower exposure resulting less captured. • Biocomposites raceway pond, plate PBR, PBR. reduced requirement. Techno-economic assessment of polymer membrane systems for postcombustion carbon capture at coal-fired power plants.
This study investigates the feasibility of polymer membrane systems for postcombustion carbon dioxide (CO(2)) capture at coal-fired power plants. Using newly developed performance and cost models, our analysis shows that membrane systems configured with multiple stages or steps are capable of meeting capture targets of 90% CO(2) removal efficiency and 95+% product purity. A combined driving for...

Techno-economic modelling and cost functions of CO2 capture processes
The paper contributes to techno-economic modelling of CO2 capture process in coalfired power plants. Technological options of CO2 capture have been chosen and cost estimation relationships (CERs) for the chosen options provided. The CERs are being fitted into a developed overall model of carbon capture and sequestration. Functions relating capital costs, operation and maintenance costs and tota...
متن کاملTechno-Economic Analysis of Biofuel Production from Macroalgae (Seaweed)
A techno-economic evaluation of bioenergy production from macroalgae was carried out in this study. Six different scenarios were examined for the production of different energy products and by-products. Seaweed was produced either via the longline method or the grid method. Final products of these scenarios were either ethanol from fermentation, or electricity from anaerobic digestion (AD). By-...
متن کاملTechno-economic analysis of hybrid layered manufacturing
Subtractive manufacturing (CNC machining) has high quality of geometric and material properties but is slow, costly and infeasible in some cases; additive manufacturing (RP) is just the opposite. Total automation and hence speed is achieved in RP by compromising on quality. Hybrid Layered Manufacturing (HLM) developed at IIT Bombay combines the best features of both these approaches. It uses ar...
