Techno-Economic Analysis of Hybrid Renewable Energy-Based Electricity Supply to Gwadar, Pakistan

Gwadar is essential to Pakistan’s financial stability. Being the third deep-water port in Pakistan, it plays a significant role trade between Gulf States, Africa, UAE, and CARs. The load shedding of 12–16 h most concerning issue due non-availability utility grid, which why Pakistan imports 70 MW electricity from Iran fulfill Gwadar’s needs. has renewable energy resources that can be utilized for generation. However, wind solar systems were only installed limited residential areas. Considering this scenario, technological economic analysis was performed using Hybrid Optimization Model Multiple Energy Resources (HOMER) software. Three models considered study. 1 consisted photovoltaic (PV) cells, turbines, converters, batteries. 2 PV grid. 3 diesel generators. annual generated by 1, 2, respectively 57.37 GWh, 81.5 30.4 GWh. Levelized Cost Electricity (LCOE) USD 0.401/kWh, 0.0347/kWh, 0.184/kWh. simple payback period 6.70 years, 7.77 years 4.98 years. Because had lowest Net Present NPC, its also less than those other two. LCOE fraction 73.3%. These facts indicate optimal solution.
