چکیده
Abstract. Apatite and zircon are among the best-studied most widely used accessory minerals for geochronology thermochronology. Given that apatite often present in same lithologies, distinguishing two phases crushed mineral separates is a common task geochronology, thermochronology, petrochronology studies. Here we method efficient accurate phase identification verification using X-ray micro-computed tomography (microCT) of grain mounts provides additional three-dimensional size, shape, inclusion suite information. In this study, analyze grains from Fish Canyon Tuff samples went through methylene iodide (MEI) lithium heteropolytungstate (LST) heavy liquid density separations. We validate microCT results known standards with Raman spectroscopy, demonstrating distinguishable each other phases, e.g., titanite, based on density. recommended scanning protocols after systematically testing effects different parameters sample positions. This methodology can help to reduce time spent performing separations highly toxic chemicals visually inspecting under light microscope, improved characterization make geochronologic data more robust.

Micro-computed tomography (μCT) has been successfully used to study the cardiovascular system of mouse embryos in situ. With the use of barium as a suitablecontrast agent, blood vessels have beenimaged and analysed quantitatively such asblood volume and vessel sizes on embryosof ages 14.5 to 16.5 days old. The advantageof using this imaging modality is that it hasprovide...

1. X-ray microcomputed tomography can be used to produce rapid, fully analysable, three-dimensional images of biological and other materials without the need for complex or tedious sample preparation and sectioning. We describe the use of this technique to visualise and analyse the microstructure of fragments of shell taken from three regions of chicken eggs (sharp pole, blunt pole and equatori...

Reliable, noninvasive imaging modalities to characterize plaque components are clinically desirable for detecting unstable coronary plaques, which cause acute coronary syndrome. Although recent clinical developments in computed tomography (CT) have enabled the visualization of luminal narrowing and calcified plaques in coronary arteries, the identification of noncalcified plaque components rema...

X-ray computed tomography (CT), introduced into clinical practice in 1972, was the first of the modern slice-imaging modalities. To reconstruct images mathematically from measured data and to display and to archive them in digital form was a novelty then and is commonplace today. CT has shown a steady upward trend with respect to technology, performance and clinical use independent of predictio...

X-ray phase-contrast computed tomography (PCCT) using grating interferometry provides enhanced soft-tissue contrast. The possibility to use standard polychromatic laboratory sources enables an implementation into a clinical setting. Thus, PCCT has gained significant attention in recent years. However, phase-contrast CT scans still require significantly increased measurement times in comparison ...
