Teaching Effectiveness of Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Integrated Curriculum Graduate Teachers: Investigating Students’ and Teachers’ Perceptions

A new teacher education package has been introduced in Ethiopia by the Ministry of Education, which is called Postgraduate Diploma Teaching (PGDT), for secondary schools since 2011, replacing integrated curriculum program with purpose equipping trainees knowledge and skills needed. However, little research carried out on effectiveness PGDT relation to previous (integrated curriculum) programme actual practices yet. This study, therefore, aims assess students’ teachers’ perceptions teaching graduate teachers North Wollo Zone, Ethiopia. Data were gathered from participant students (n = 214) 16) using purposive sampling. To gather data, questionnaires employed. The data analyzed quantitatively mean, standard deviations, one-sample t-test. findings study revealed that show slightly more positive PGDT, especially subject matter knowledge; scores are also significant. results indicated both use lecture method teaching. Recommendations forwarded development, instruction, PGDT. Limitations future directions summarized discussed.
